In 1976, Middle East Peace Now was formed in Minnesota to promote understanding and discussion of the issues underlying conflicts in the Middle East with a focus on Palestine and Israel.

“Jerusalem: Whose Capital”

Presenters will focus on a) the historical background of Jerusalem; b) the issue of international law as it pertains to Palestinian and  sovereignty and Israeli control over Jerusalem; c) Israeli practices of residency revocation and denial of family reunification; and d) social and cultural aspects of Palestinian life in Jerusalem.  Liza Burr taught in the Ethnic and Religious State University; she has lived two years in Jerusalem.  Craig Harris creates multimedia performances based on his experiences in Behlehem where his daughter lives in a refugee camp.  Hussein Khatib, a board member of American Muslims for Palestine, brings his personal stories of life in Jerusalem.
